Focus: images

Images can play a significant part in your site design. Images can convey information about your products, about the subject you are discussing, or about the 'feel' of your site. Things to remember about using images include:

• Using too many images, or using images that are too big, can slow down your site. Some visitors may not wait for your page to load completely before going on to the next site.
• Images belong to someone - usually the person who took the photo. Unless you took the image yourself, permission to use the image should be obtained.
• Some people may not be able to see the images on your pages, so the images should not be used to convey meaning that is not available in the text. These visitors may not be able to use your site properly otherwise.
